The Inspiration: An Insider Look into our SS24 Collection

In the world of beauty, we are constantly searching for inspiration far and wide. This season, transport yourself to the sun-drenched shores and electric energy of the Mediterranean's crown jewel. With six captivating shades that evoke the essence of the iconic Balearic island, this collection is a celebration of Ibiza's magnetic charm, vibrant energy, and breathtaking beauty.

From nature to nightlife, this collection encapsulates the essence of Ibiza's free-spirited allure—and a lot of you are curious about how we get here. To develop this concept, we took a multi-pronged approach, starting simultaneously with initial ideas of what colours we think our Gelcare users are looking for, trend research across beauty and fashion and mood boards drawing on cultural references. This is really where the magic happens! Like most of our collections, this collection took us 5 months to develop and execute, starting with the initial mood boards and references, then multiple sample rounds and finishing with final production orders.

Explore the crystal-clear waters surrounding Ibiza's coastline with Reef, a refined orangey-coral shade that captures the bold beauty of the island's underwater world. This rich, pigmented hue reflects the mesmerizing essence of sunlit coral reefs. Reef is a bright orange-red, but unlike Rosso Corsa, our similarly toned summer classic, this coral is not as fluorescent, making it slightly more elevated.

Inspired by the serene beauty of Ibiza's hidden coves, Low Tide is a pastel, aqua turquoise that captures the serene essence of the island's tranquil shores. This colour is a high-opacity turquoise, which is difficult to achieve when creating gel colours using this specific pigment. When compared to last summer’s standout turquoise shade, Lagoon, this colour is softer and significantly more pastel.

Inspired by the delicate beauty of the ethereal sea anemones dancing in the ocean's embrace, this colour is a soon to be a Gelcare classic. A soft purple-pink hue, this colour features a buildable, wet look that is almost full coverage after 3 coats. Anemone Pink is the debut colour of our new Butter colour range. At Gelcare were constantly exploring gel textures, opacities and finishes. Butter colours offer slightly more coverage than our classic BB Creams and have a higher sheen finish. There's nothing quite like watching the sun dip below the horizon in Ibiza, painting the sky with a kaleidoscope of fiery hues. Ibiza Sunset captures the breathtaking beauty of these magical moments—a micro-shimmer pink with a reflection that radiates with the promise of endless summer nights. It features a similar sheer base and iridescent finish to our top-selling colour, Akoya Pearl.

Inspired by the famous red cherry logo of the legendary Pacha nightclub, Pacha Red is a bold and sultry shade that embodies the electrifying energy of Ibiza's nightlife. This candy apple hue is perfect for those who want to make a sexy statement on the dance floor, channelling the island's passion and allure. For our red lovers, and we know there are lots of you, Pacha Red is a more opaque red lighter and more pink-toned than our tried and true classic, jelly, Patent Leather Red.

Towering majestically off the coast of Ibiza, Es Vedrà symbolizes mystery, myth and intrigue. This colour is unlike anything we have released before and the first of our new Metallic range. Capturing the landmark’s mythical allure in every brushstroke, this mesmerizing shade combines a warm metallic brown base with high density, extra fine micro-shimmer.
