Another day, another manicure named after something we’d happily order with a martini.

Meet lychee nails.

Soft, milky and just pink enough, lychee nails are the latest evolution of the barely-there manicure. Think somewhere between milky nails, jelly nails and your favourite sheer pink, with a glossy finish that makes everything look extra juicy.

And this particular trend feels a little close to home.

GELCARE has had a shade called Lychee in the lineup long before “lychee nails” became the manicure of the moment. Now, Cosmopolitan has named lychee nails one of 2026’s biggest sheer manicure trends and featured our very own Lychee Gel Polish as its first example of the look.

Sometimes the nail trend finds you.

Lychee nails are a milky, soft pink manicure inspired by the delicate colouring of lychee fruit.

The look sits somewhere between white and pink. It has enough of a milky base to soften the colour, while a subtle rosy undertone keeps it from looking like a stark white manicure.

The finish is important too. Lychee nails are typically glossy, luminous and slightly translucent, giving them that fresh, juicy quality that inspired the name in the first place. Cosmopolitan describes the trend as a sheer, milky pink with a jelly-like glossy finish.

In other words: your nails, but fruitier.

Sheer manicures have been having a very good few years.

Soap nails. Lip gloss nails. Milk nails. Jelly nails. BB Cream nails. The names change, but the obsession with healthy-looking, translucent colour isn’t going anywhere.

Lychee nails take that aesthetic and give it a slightly sweeter spin. Instead of a beige nude or true milky white, there’s a wash of soft pink underneath.

Cosmopolitan called lychee nails a major sheer manicure trend for summer 2026, highlighting everything from ultra-sheer versions to more opaque interpretations on both long and short nails.

And while they may have arrived as a summer trend, we don’t see much of a reason to give them an expiration date.

This is where things get almost suspiciously convenient.

The shade already had everything the lychee nail trend calls for: milky white, soft pink, a translucent finish and plenty of shine.

Cosmopolitan featured GELCARE Lychee as its first example of the trend, recommending two to three coats for a more opaque interpretation.

We’ll take it.

The beauty of lychee nails is that there really isn’t much to them. The colour does most of the work.

Start with your usual GELCARE nail prep, making sure the nail plate is clean and free of oils before application.

Apply Base Coat one nail at a time and set each nail under your LED Nail Lamp for 5 seconds. Once all five nails have been set, cure the full hand for 60 seconds.

Then comes Lychee.

Keep it light with one to two thin coats of Lychee, curing for 60 seconds after each coat.

You’ll get more natural nail showing through, with just enough milky pink to give everything that glossy lychee effect.

Apply three thin coats of Lychee, curing each for 60 seconds.

Building the colour gives you a milkier, more noticeable pink-white finish while keeping that soft quality that makes the trend so pretty.

Finish with Top Coat and cure for 3 minutes for maximum shine.

This is not the manicure for a matte moment. Lychee wants gloss.

They’re definitely related, but they’re not quite the same.

Classic milky nails tend to lean white or creamy, while lychee nails bring a soft rosy undertone into the mix.

That touch of pink is what gives the manicure its fruit-inspired quality and keeps the white from feeling too stark.

If milky nails are a glass of milk, lychee nails are the pink drink sitting beside it.

This one comes down more to colour than technique.

Jelly nails are defined by their translucent, glassy finish and can come in virtually any colour. Lychee nails live in a much narrower palette: soft white, pale pink and everything deliciously milky in between.

So lychee nails can have a jelly-like translucency, but not every jelly manicure is a lychee manicure.

Good news: basically all of them.

Long almond nails make the sheer, glossy finish feel especially delicate, while short squoval or rounded nails give lychee a clean, natural look. Cosmopolitan highlighted both long almond and short squoval versions of the trend.

Because the colour itself is so understated, it doesn’t rely on length or elaborate nail art to make sense.

Short nails? Lychee.

Long nails? Lychee.

Somewhere in the awkward growing-out stage? Also Lychee.

We wouldn’t retire your nude collection just yet, but lychee nails make a very convincing case for becoming part of the rotation.

They’re sheer enough to wear like a neutral, pink enough to make the nails look fresh and milky enough to feel a little more interesting than a classic nude.

They’re also the kind of manicure that works with almost everything, which may explain why these barely-there nail trends keep finding new names and coming back around.
